The emergence of AI over the last few years is rapidly transforming many aspects of our world. The web industry is not immune from this trend and now touches many aspects of our work. As with any new transformative technology people have a broad range of ideas on what constitutes prudent and acceptable use of the new tools. This policy aims to address our current thinking and practices on the matter.
Current leading edge AI tech is an extremely powerful tool. We are able to do many tasks much faster and at a better quality. It is not uncommon to do work that used to take an entire 8 hour day in less than 1 hour. Often the work is done to a higher standard as well. Additionally, AI amplifies a broad skillset; it can help with website design, server configuration, web application development, infrastructure management, invoicing, security hardening, incident response, and more. Given this, as you might imagine, it is now deeply involved in many areas of our daily operation.
I want to focus on the term tool. Although AI is more powerful than many of the tools that came before it, it is still just a tool. Sometimes, AI is accused of producing slop. That is a dodge. A craftsman doesn't blame his tools. We aim to do good work, and many customers over the years have expressed their appreciation of our work. In the AI age we continue to strive to deliver quality results for our customers, whatever tools we might use in the process. If we produce sub-standard results for you, blame us and not any AI we may have used. On the other hand if we serve you well, please give us the credit and tell all your friends!
It is also true that one ought to use the correct tool for the job. AI is not always the right answer or a wise choice. If you have specific concerns over AI use for a certain aspect of your project or website with us, please let us know. We will do what we can do answer your questions and accommodate your needs.
